An interactive museum thanks to the Miam Miam room

In Lyon, the city where some of the most traditional and famous dishes of French gastronomy were born, the Cité Internationale de la Gastronomie was inaugurated a year ago.

DigaliX participated in the process of creating the Gastroludoteca Miam Miam, a 200 m2 space reserved for children that should be fun, educational and participatory.

It took more than a year to design the space and the contents, type of technology to apply, invent characters, create animations and manufacture each module in which the teams would be integrated.

We previously carried out the construction in Barcelona for its validation and then a team of 20 people traveled to make the final installation in France.

Technology is applied in this space so that the little ones know the food cycles, production to consumption, and promote healthy eating. All through six islands of knowledge:

  1. A giant mouth recreates Mlle Santé, one of the main characters in the exhibition, turned into a sofa from which to play in a question-and-answer contest with push buttons as a Quizz. Augmented reality to be seen on screen mixed with animations.
  2. A life-size toy kitchen that includes an interactive table with object recognition to prepare tasty recipes, guided by chef Fourchette and her assistant Cuillere, characters who appear on screen to help us.
  3. Egg-shaped model, which recreates 10 different landscapes to search for products and find out their origin through augmented reality using iPad, 3D animations and interactive games. All this guided by Ruchette, a friendly bee who introduces each activity.
  4. An interactive touch screen in a module in the form of a milk brick with a virtual character, the cow Lily, to explain the origin of dairy in a fun way.
  5. Immersive projection inside a giant shopping basket, showing how vegetables and fruits  germinate, due to the effect of the sun, water and the seasons. In a kaleidoscopic and infinite effect, thanks to the set of mirrors inside.
  6. Game with push buttons in a large pot, recreating the buttons of a hob on an interactive floor. Inside, participants have fun guessing food smells and recipes.

Technology is a complement to chef demonstrations, tastings and culinary events. The complex forms a completely experiential cultural center.

Within the collaboration, DigaliX also carried out the design and technical assembly for the immersive projection in a 200 m2 room of the temporary exhibition Revisiting Arcimboldo, a spectacular audiovisual creation by La Can Can and Gabriel Casanova dedicated to the Italian painter, famous for using fruits and flowers for his compositions.
